Brass Chinese Brothel (Bordello) Token (“Whorehouse Chit”), circa World War II. 1 5/8″ diameters, 1/8″ thick, 1.1 oz. Average circulated condition or better. See images. Brought back from the World War II Pacific Theater by a U.S. naval officer shortly after hostilities had ceased, this token (chit) is at newest from the early 1940s, probably a decade or more older. Obverse side is rather graphic, reverse bears Chinese Han characters, translation unknown to us. Brothel tokens, historically, have been redeemable for sexual activity at brothels.See images.
